Product Overview
The Gradient Switch is part of the Twin-Gradient GEMINI project. Its function is to switch between the twin Coils (WB= Whole Body and ZM= ZooM gradient) under the command of the Operator or the Host Computer. The switching is done mechanically by Contactors. These contactors can carry currents up to 400A and have insulation of 1500V. There are 6 contractors: 3 for WB and 3 for ZM. The Commands are sent through Opto-Couplers and SSR (Solid State Relays) to keep good isolation between Commands and the Gradient currents. The assembly is installed in a special cabinet, on the way from the Gradient Amplifier to the Gradient Filter (on the Penetration Panel). The Unit in its communication to the GP (Gradient Processor) also send the Contactors Status and Diagnostic information for Faults. The whole Unit is designed to be mounted in a Rack 19 inches Standard : 6U Height, 36 inches depth. This Twin Gradient Switch is compatible for use with GE's Signa 3.0T HDxt and Signa 1.5T HDxT Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Systems.
