Product Overview

The Weight Negative Pressure Relief 14 cm Water BCG comes as a part of the Adjustable Pressure Limiting (APL) valve module for the Breathing Circuit Gas (BCG) in an anesthesia delivery machine. The AGSS (Anesthesia Gas Scavenging System) has both positive and negative pressure relief valves to protect the breathing system and the patient. The APL valve prevents gas from being pulled out of the breathing circuit. If more than a small amount of negative pressure is applied to the scavenging system, the negative relief valve opens, allowing room air to be drawn into the scavenging system instead of pulling gas from the patient circuit. If this negative pressure reaches 14 cm H₂0, the brass weight of the relief valve is lifted up allowing the room air. This prevents the pressure from backing up into the patient circulation. In the event that excess gas accumulates in the scavenging system and cannot exit the machine properly, positive pressure could build and the weight of the positive relief valve will be lifted up allowing the gas to escape into the room.
